What's the Difference Between Organic and Natural?
According to AAFCO, the regulatory body that governs pet food, “Natural” means the product comes from plant, animal or mined sources that are either unprocessed, or processed without synthetic chemicals. "Organic," on the other hand, is kind of like "natural-plus." Being certified organic takes "natural" to a whole new level given the extremely rigorous regulations that form the USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP).100%

95% organic (can carry the USDA Organic Seal) – Requires the product to be made with at least 95% organic ingredients – all ORGANIX Recipes, including dry, wet and treats are USDA Organic Certified.

What Gets Approved?
Every single ingredient that goes into a certified organic product must be approved by the third party certifying agency regardless of whether or not it’s organic. The standards are very rigorous, and the agency is meticulous in its scrutiny of everything that goes into the product.
Below we have listed our certifications so you can learn more about what makes us the leader in organic & natural pet food.

“The Organic Trade Association’s vision is to grow ORGANIC to achieve excellence in agriculture and commerce, protect the environment and enhance community well-being.”
Selected Castor & Pollux ORGANIX canned recipes must meet extremely detailed and difficult third-party organic certification requirements for each and every ingredient, our production process, organic ingredient storage and handling, and more. The USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP) regulates the way organic food and ingredients are raised or grown, handled, processed and stored. The NOP also governs what can be said on packaging, an additional requirement that Castor & Pollux has consistently applied.
For more on the requirements of the USDA’s NOP, visit www.ams.usda.gov/nop or www.ota.com.
“Our mission is to preserve and build sources of non-GMO products, educate consumers, and provide verified non-GMO choices.”
A non-profit organization, the Non GMO Project is dedicated to the education and preservation of the non-GMO food supply and providing verified food choices. A selection of our ORGANIX canned recipes have gone through the verification process to ensure that these foods were produced in line with the best practices for GMO avoidance.
