Clackamas OR -Castor & Pollux Pet Works has been recognized for introducing one of the top new products for dogs in DOG FANCY magazine's 2009 Editors' Choice awards. DOG FANCY is the world's most widely-read dog magazine.
Castor & Pollux was recognized for innovation, creativity and originality in introducing GOOD BUDDY "Mimi's Favorite" Mac & Cheese cookies, a lighthearted homage to 13-year-old Freekibble founder Mimi Ausland and one of her favorite meals. With the sale of each box of the dog cookies, Castor & Pollux donates a meal to Freekibble, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising meal donations for hungry shelter pets.
Beyond donating meals based on cookie sales, as Freekibble's founding sponsor, Castor & Pollux provides a steady stream of monthly meal donations to shelters. Over the past year, Castor & Pollux has donated about 750,000 meals to Freekibble-supported shelters.
"We're all pet parents ourselves, so feeding pets in need is rewarding in and of itself. The Editors' Choice award is icing on the cake," said Shelley Gunton, Castor & Pollux co-founder and "Top Dog." "It's a major commitment for a small company like ours, but the shelters need the support, and it's been a joy to work with Mimi and her family at Freekibble."
