Feeding Directions: Bringing home your new puppy is exciting but also stressful for your new best friend. To avoid possible dietary upset from a change in food, make gradual changes to his or her diet. Start with a small amount of Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula in place of your puppy’s current food. Over the next week to 10 days, increase the amount of Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula, while decreasing the amount of his or her other food, until your puppy has 100% Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula in his bowl.

Puppies have special nutritional needs during their first year and should have their own special food to meet those needs. Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula provides optimum levels of fat, protein, energy, vitamins, and minerals, (including calcium) for their developing bones and teeth. Crunchy pieces provide great taste, excellent chewing exercise, and help clean teeth. Depending on the breed, puppies are ready for adult food at 12 to 18 months of age and, for giant breeds, at 24 months of age.

Feed your puppy an amount that will provide steady, optimal growth without becoming overweight. This food intake will vary depending on age, activity level, environment, and other stress factors. Please adjust your puppy’s feeding amount using the chart below as a guide.

Puppies benefit from a consistent feeding time of day and diet. For example, three small meals a day, or two larger meals split between the morning and evening. To serve moistened, add one-third part warm water to two-thirds part Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula. To maintain the freshness of Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula, do not serve more than what your puppy will consume in a thirty-minute period.

Remember to provide plenty of fresh water in a clean container at all times. Regular visits to your veterinarian and exercise are strongly recommended to help ensure your puppy’s good health.

Feeding Guidelines For Reproduction: Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing female dogs in stages of gestation and lactation. Food intake may vary during gestation so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female’s good body condition. During lactation, food intake may double or even quadruple. Again, feed the amount needed to maintain the lactating female’s good body condition.

What is DHA? DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid that is important for neural development. It is a major structural component of the brain as well as the most abundant fatty acid in the brain. It plays a vital role in the development of the central nervous system and retinal function.

Prior to weaning, puppies get DHA from their mother. Mothers transfer DHA from their body tissues to their offspring during pregnancy and lactation. After weaning, puppies can obtain DHA for continuing neural development through their diet. Research has shown that puppies nourished on diets with enhanced levels of DHA had enhanced trainability performance.

The natural source of DHA in Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula is the fish oil from the fish meal.
