The annual award is designed to recognize a member of the natural foods industry who embodies the qualities represented by the late Cliff Adler, a former vice president of Eden Foods, Inc. Winners display a strong sense of integrity, work hard, inspire and motivate colleagues, maintain a sense of humor through both success and failure, and follow equitable and ethical business practices while maintaining an eye on the bottom line.
During the recent pet food industry crisis, Gunton demonstrated incredible dedication to the industry, her company and her customers. She personally responded to thousands of emails from frightened pet parents, was upfront and transparent regarding Castor & Pollux’ product status and rallied employees to answer phones on nights and weekends in order to provide every caller the personalized attention she felt they deserved. These actions led to the Adler Award selection committee’s decision.
Gunton’s dedication to keeping consumers informed, employees motivated and doing the right thing were noted in the award nomination.
Honored and humbled by the recognition, Gunton stated, “I only did what I felt was right for our customers.
