August 12, 2015 -- Castor & Pollux has reinvented its ORGANIX line of pet food with innovative new recipes and significant upgrades – including a new ORGANIX kibble recipe with freeze-dried raw bites; new protein options in the ORGANIX dog food line; and upgraded ORGANIX recipes for pets. Plus, ORGANIX has received Non-GMO Project Verification on 10 canned recipes for both dogs and cats.
The ORGANIX reinvention comes as consumer interest in organic foods spills over into pets’ bowls. “Pet food trends often mirror human food trends, and as pet parents seek the same benefits of organic food for their pets, organic pet food is expected to keep growing,” said Mark Sapir, vice president of marketing for Merrick Pet Care, the makers of ORGANIX. “We’re building on our leadership in organic to offer pets new and better recipes made with nutritious, best quality natural and organic ingredients.”
New ORGANIX Free-Range Recipe with Raw Bites
Castor & Pollux is debuting a new recipe to deliver on growing interest in pet food for freeze-dried raw. New ORGANIX Free Range Recipe with Raw Bites starts with grain-free ORGANIX kibble – made with organic, free-range chicken as the first ingredient – accompanied by pieces of freeze-dried raw salmon and whitefish.
“Our freeze-dried raw bites lock in fresh taste and deliver nutrients in a pure, easy-to-digest state for dogs to enjoy,” said Sapir. “Pet parents can safely feed our recipe because the freeze-dried raw pieces go through rigorous testing and a proven process called High-Pressure Processing to ensure food safety.”
New ORGANIX Kibble Recipes Offer Salmon, Lamb Protein Options
Castor & Pollux is also introducing two recipes featuring new proteins:
ORGANIX Grain Free Salmon & Peas Recipe and ORGANIX Grain Free Lamb & Peas Recipe.
These recipes feature either real salmon or real lamb as the first ingredient plus certified organic ingredients such as organic peas, organic potatoes and organic lentils to meet the requirements of Oregon Tilth, a leading certifier of organic products. These grain-free recipes are 26 percent protein and, like all Castor & Pollux recipes, are made in the USA in an organically certified kitchen.
Non-GMO Project Verification on ORGANIX Canned Recipes
ORGANIX has earned Non-GMO Project Verified status for its canned pet food recipes made with organic chicken. The Non-GMO Project verification was achieved after in-depth audit of both ORGANIX ingredients and the company’s manufacturing facilities to ensure the company is meeting the highest possible standards for GMO avoidance. As part of the verification, 10 ORGANIX canned food recipes containing organic chicken will bear the Non-GMO Project Verified seal.
Optimized ORGANIX Recipes Deliver Enhanced Nutrition, Palatibility to Pets
While Castor & Pollux has been cooking up these new ORGANIX recipes for dogs, the company has also made significant improvements to existing cat and dog food recipes for improved nutrition and taste.
Specifically, ORGANIX kibble recipes for dogs now feature increased levels of protein, Omega 6s, glucosamine and chondroitin. Organic coconut oil has also been added to some recipes, which has many nutritional benefits as an anti-inflammatory, for increased energy, and for improving skin, coat and overall digestion.
Additionally, pet parents can expect to see upgraded packaging with more premium design across the ORGANIX line of dog and cat food, in both kibble and wet recipes. Recipe names also have been adapted to speak more to the ingredients contained within each recipe. For example, ORGANIX Grain Free Adult Dog Food will become ORGANIX Grain Free Chicken & Potato Recipe.
As the most complete line of certified organic natural food for pets under the USDA’s National Organic Program, ORGANIX recipes include organic fruits and vegetables for vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, plus soluble fiber for a healthy intestinal tract. Organic ingredients contain no chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, artificial preservatives, growth hormones or antibiotics.
